NEW YORK (Reuters) - Huawei says it is considering using the Russian operating system to stop Google's operating.
Russia's Tass news agency quoted its Internet media as saying that China is testing products based on the Russian OS, the Abra-La. Abroad is a mobile phone based on the sale of Finland, and is being developed by Russian telecom operator Ross Telecom.
Huawei said it was discussing the conversion of Huawei-Honor smartphone's Android OS to Abora OS. Media quoted a source as saying, "It was discussed to provide Russia's software ecosystem to Huawei, including Abra, as well as social media, search engines and antivirus."
On the eve of the International Economic Forum held in Russia on June 6-8, the issue was discussed by President Huawei Guo Ping and Konstantinoskov, Russian digital development and communications minister. Chinese President Hu Jintao and Russian President Vladimir Putin also attended the forum.
Huawei was not able to use Google's Android service because it was included in the list of US trading restrictions last month as the US-China trade war became more widespread. It is the state that handles with Russia and responds to US sanctions.
Huawei is also speeding up its own OS development. Hong Kong's South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Huawei spokesman acknowledged the development of its own operating system via e-mail. RUN JEEPHEE Founder of Huawei said that the US ordered ZTE development in 2012, and OS team was newly established and started developing secretly.
"Huawei has a back-up system, but it is for use only in circumstances where it can be taken seriously," Huawei said. "Android and Windows will always remain our first choice. We will do everything within our reach to protect our profits. "
But if the Huawei OS is incompatible to run an Android app, SCMP points out that it will be difficult for consumers to choose. Earlier, Microsoft and Samsung Electronics tried to build a Windows OS and Taizen OS ecosystem that replaced Android, but failed to get all the Android apps to work smoothly.
SCMP said, "Huawei has finally come to accept the long-term confidential development of alternative OS until the US government's sanctions completely block Android service support." But consumers are not sure whether they will buy smartphones without Google Apps. Compatibility with Android is key to enabling you to seamlessly download and run your app. "
"Huawei's proprietary OS has not been ready for release as US trade bans have suddenly begun, because it has tested thousands of alternate operating systems, but has not been tested on the consumer product lineup," he said. There is no release date, "he added.
Meanwhile, China Global Times reported that Huawei will launch its own OS in August ~ September. Huawei registered its OS name in China last year as 'Huawei Hongkong' and last month it was reported that it registered a new OS under the name 'Huawei Arc' in European Union Intellectual Property Bureau last month
